The bags to not seem strong enough to hold groceries. I am not happy with them at all. If I use the self service lane I have to go to the service counter to get a rain check. If I wanted to stand in line I would have went to a regular check out to begin with. Rain checks need to be made available at all check outs. I ask every time! I love meijer. I do wish they had a corporate coupon policy and teach their cashiers about coupons! They think that you have to picture the item pictured on the coupon, even though the coupon says any.
But I have scored some great deals, and plenty of free items from Meijer. I really like the Super Saturday sales, but wish they came on some sort of predictable schedule. Also like the MMB coupons, as that is a definite advantage over Kroger. I agree with the earlier comments of better cashier training on proper coupon useage.
If we can keep a list of dates and items here on the web, why do they always need me to get the actual sign to prove it to them? Cant there be a list at customer service? Also, I hate trying to get around your employees giant carts of stock to get at the yogurt. I understand that sometimes you need to replenish stock in the middle of the day, but must they bring out so much at one time that it blocks the aisles?
I love the variety of items offered. If a new product comes out, Meijer is usually one of the first to carry it. The MMB coupons are also great, now that we can use more than one in the same transaction. And it drives me crazy that many sale items seem to be sold out by Monday afternoon, conveniently not to be re-stocked until Sunday.
The price terminology is also confusing to the average shopper — there are regular prices, everyday best prices which are temporary but long-term , price drops also temporary, for a shorter time , and sale prices for the week. I tried explaining those terms to a non-coupon-savvy friend and she looked at me like I was nuts.
It would be nice if Meijer did the same thing. I have to agree with the other comments and say that the 2 identical double coupon limit is the pits. I hate having to do multiple transactions. I can usually only shop during Saturday afternoon. It is super busy during that time of the week.
I feel so bad when I have someone behind me and I am doing 4 separate transactions. The only reason I shop at Meijers is when I get a great deal, which a lot of time is not worth the hassle.
I hate that you can only double two identical coupons. I have also purchased outdated food their on more than one occassion one day three day outdated ribs, which were not even discounted. I have also had the experience of many of their employees being less than helpful and sometimes very rude. Meijer is convenient and has a great selection of products. I shop Meijer more than any other store and we have at least seven grocery stores to choose from in a five mile radius.
My biggest pet peeve about Meijer is the stock employees in the aisles. If I am shopping at a time when they are in the aisles, I leave frustrated and thinking I should look for another store. They tend to park their large carts in the middle of the aisle.
Nine times out of ten they do not offer to hand me an item that they are blocking or offer to step aside so I can get it. They are very territorial. I can sense that they believe they are more important than the customers in the aisle because they are working. I believe they need a little customer service training. What I like: Meijers are cheap, clean, friendly stores. Most of my cashier interactions and customer service interactions are positive.
Love the coupon doubling and the MBCs. My two biggest gripes: 1 Mealbox coupons do not scan without being approved by a cashier. I love the MBCs but they need to work better. Many catalinas are not in the ad and often not even on a shelf tag. Soooo frustrating. Thanks for the chance to speak my piece :o. I wish the coupon policy was corp wide, of course including a good doubling policy — two other chains in my area do double.
Staff is always nice, most cashiers understand coupon users. Like the penny pony! Love the 10 for 10 plus 1 free sales and the frequency of them! I buy produce somewhere else typically also because it is overwhelming there. Love that they offer mealbox coupons, wish their expiration dates coupon be longer. I love Meijer. The cashiers at the self check out have been great I always go to the self check out.
I also love the penny pony or my daughter does! I feel lucky the majority of the cashiers at the Meijers I shop at are very friendly and helpful. I have even referred some of them to your website when they are amazed at the savings I get from the coupons! I agree with most that the limit on doubling coupons should be maybe 4 instead of 2 to avoid taking up extra time ringing up seperate orders. The rain checks are a pain too — I love the idea someone had about having the rainchecks in the isle where the item is like Target does.
The bags they have right now are horrible — anything heavy ususally ends up ripping the bag before I can get it home. It is hard to tell the cashier what catalina should have printed off when there is nothing in writing about it.
I have emailed Meijer twice about this already. I was just talking to a worker at the service desk yesterday. This would be my one big complaint. The doubling should be consistant in all Meijer Stores. What a pain.
Otherwise I love Meijer. Sharon, where do you go that doubles to 99 cents? I live in Carey, and usually shop in Findlay. Just wondering. Meijers does have some really good sales. I do usually go to the self checkout, and those cashiers are very nice. Most of the time, I have them and customers nearby asking where I get all these coupons, and how do I do it.
Emily, I live in Upper Sandusky. I think it should be the same everywhere. I agree with many of the positive comments listed above about MMB, the penny horse. I also love the 10 for 10, 11th free sales. My most recent experience was that a checker was undoubling the coupons that said DND. I said that this was not my typical experience. She said other people must be new and not know because it is printed on the coupon.
I ended up going to CS to return a couple of things that were no longer the deals that I expected. My biggest complaint is that the Grand Rapids area stores do not and have never offered double coupons. They should either offer double coupons to everyone or no one. Put a coupon policy in writing, with specific instructions on what is appropriate. Is it one man per item or not! Including management! Their raincheck system is horrible!
It takes me just as long to get a raincheck as it does to gather all of my groceries or checkout! Cashiers will substitute items without calling but have to call for a raincheck!
They call department to verify they are out, call service desk to write the raincheck and bring it over. Almost every time I am there, cart boys are in the middle of the entrance bringing carts in. They block the entrance into the store, then congest the entrance inside the store as they try to take the long line of carts and turn them to put them in the cart area. Also post your weekly ad before midnight on Sunday!
So I can prepare for my Sunday morning shopping trip ahead of time. I love Meijer I drive an hour just to go shopping there. I can get in and out and people are so friendly. The only issue I have had is not getting catalinas.
Otherwise love Meijer come to Danville, Kentucky already. I hope Meijer gets this. You guys need to do something to ensure that your Meijer Meal Box coupons actually work. Also, I have had bad experiences with cashiers being very rude just because I have coupons, sometimes I only have a few and still get an attitude. I also like that I can buy almost anything that I need in one stop, from computer paper to weed n feed, to dishes, to groceries.
That is a convenience that I appreciate. What I dislike about my particular Meijer Taylor location is the cafe. Many newer or updated locations have a nice coffee station or a nice selection of fresh choices.
The Taylor location has a very unkempt, poorly stocked cafe where, at best, I might get a fresh cup of regular coffee. Please tell them to keep up the MMB program! I agree that we should ask for more doubling of like coupons. Even if they go up to 3, it would be better. Keeping a current catalina list at even the customer service line would be better than what they have now. It would be nice to get through a self checkout line without having to call the cashier over to take care of a MMB coupon!
Maybe set the program to notify the attendant after 4? At least we could do most of our own coupons then, and might get through without waiting so long for help.
Thanks Meijer for great deals!! Keep up the good work. I love my meijer, I have only had one cranky cashier. The cashiers are always great, and do not question my coupons like some of the other stores. I do try to not make giant purchases. I save a lot more going twice and being careful. It is hard to coupon if you do not allow the time. I know I screw up if i am in a rush. I hate that the mealbox coupons do not scan.
I try to sort my coupons by what will trigger the help and scan those last. I have gone to the new Rochester Hills meijer at lunch, it is near my office.
It is never busy, and seems to have good stock of items that my local meijer can be out of. Employees seems to be extra nice there. Change to 4, that would be fair. More than that I think we would have issues with stock. Never had a issue with rainchecks, have been able to get them easily at uscan.
I stand and watch the cashier scan at UScan. The mealbox do not always deduct. Have to watch that. Some cashiers are good at making sure they do, but some are not. Watch the total at the bottom to make sure they deduct as they scan. Meijer is my favorite for coupons. Never used the online site for shopping. I absolutely love the new Rochester Hills store, too. Also like the bottle return area being seperate and up-front. I would like to tell Meijer to double coupons in all stores.
It should be this way with sales also. I know that sometimes the Detroit sales are cheaper than ours here in kalamazoo.
We all want to save money the same way. I agree with the other comments that cashiers should all be trained the same way. Oh, and could you give us more bathrooms please! Ours has 2 stalls. I do however like the do-it-yourself checkouts.
